Instructions for use

Decalcify your espresso machine regularly and before build-up of lime – ideally every 3 months. You should always consult the instruction manual for your coffee machine and follow its directions on decalcification and rinsing first.

Machines WITH decalcification program

(step 1-3)

Set your machine to the local water hardness. You should decalcify the machine as soon as the decalcification indicator lights.

1. Pour 1 portion (125 ml / 4.2 fl. oz.) of durgol® swiss espresso® into the water tank.
2. Dilute the decalcifier with tap water according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. The program will now start automatically or can be started manually.

Machines WITHOUT decalcification program

(step 1-3)

Decalcify at the very latest when you notice the coffee takes longer to come through or when the brewing noise becomes noticeably louder.

1. Pour 1 portion (125 ml / 4.2 fl. oz.) of durgol® swiss espresso® into the water tank.
2. Dilute the decalcifier with the same amount of tap water (125 ml / 4.2 fl. oz.).
3. Let the solution run through the hot water dispenser (Note: do not activate the steam function!). If  your machine has no hot water dispenser, let it run through the coffee dispenser.

Other cases

Dilute 1 portion (125 ml / 4.2 fl. oz.) of durgol® swiss espresso® with 875 ml / 29.6 fl. oz. of water and let the entire 1 liter / 34 fl. oz. of solution run through the machine’s hot water dispenser (or coffee dispenser).

For machines with water tanks containing more than 1.2 litres we recommend the use of 2 portions of durgol® swiss espresso® per decalcification.

Machines WITH / WITHOUT decalcification program

(step 4-6)

4. Catch the escaping liquid in a glass or plastic container large enough to prevent splashing as it flows out of the machine. Be careful: the liquid can be hot!
5. Rinse the water tank with tap water. Next rinse the machine by running 1–2 tanks of water through it. (WITH automatic decalcification program: rinse according to the coffee machine manufacturer's directions).
6. Tip: After decalcifying, wipe the coffee machine down with a damp cloth to remove any splashes.

=> Now you are ready to enjoy your next perfect cup of coffee.
